OBJECTIVE: To analyze the economic impact of the cooperative sector in Guatemala, determining its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during the period 2013-2024. METHOD: Quantitative with a descriptive and projective approach in the cooperative sector to the GDP in 2024. RESULTS: The number of legally registered cooperatives in Guatemala, number of economic activities to which cooperatives are dedicated, percentage of contribution to the gross domestic product GDP. In 2024, it is suggested that the cooperative sector contributes approximately Q166,888.5 million to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), equivalent to 27.3% of the national total (Q611,405.1 million). This contribution reflects not only its expansion in the number of cooperatives, but also its diversification into strategic activities for the country's economy. CONCLUSION: Cooperatives represent the joint effort of more than 2,500 organizations in Guatemala, made up of thousands of people who, by uniting under a solidarity economy model, generate a significant impact on the country's development. Their participation extends to key sectors such as savings and credit, agriculture, commerce, renewable energy, and mining, strengthening economic growth.
