Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published or submitted for consideration by any other journal (or an explanation has been provided in the comments to the editor).
  • Wherever possible, URLs are provided for references.
  • Articles must be unpublished and original.
  • The minimum contents that an article must contain are: Title, title in Spanish, abstract, keywords, resumen, palabras clave, introduction, materials and methods, results, analysis and discussion, conclusions, future perspectives and bibliographic references.
  • Articles can be written in Spanish or English and should be considered a maximum length of 10,000 words.
  • The text must be written at 1 1/2 of a space with font and font size Times New Roman 12, including all types of graphics or tables.
  • The text must be written at 1 1/2 spacing with arial font type and size 12, including all types of figures and tables.
  • The submission document can be in Microsoft Word, Pages, OpenOffice, RTF or WordPerfect format, MS Word format is preferred.
  • Articles must be written in running lines and not in columns to be reviewed. (The editor will be in charge of adapting it later in columnar format).
  • Footnotes will be in Arial 10 and should only be used to clarify or expand a term.
  • The headings of the different sections will be in capital letters, numbered, and will be in arial 12 font.
  • All contributions must include an abstract, with an extension of no more than 250 words, and its corresponding translation in Spanish.
  • All articles will include 5 keywords and their translation into Spanish.
  • The titles must be short, with a maximum of 18 words and if necessary, a subtitle must be considered.
  • Articles must include a page with the title of the article, the specific academic area of the article, the name of the author, profession, academic degree (s), his main occupation, institutional affiliation, email address and telephone number (must be placed at the end of the article).
  • Footnotes will be in Arial 10 and should only be used to clarify or expand a term.
  • In the case of words with "extra meaning", words "adopted", words in another language use "quotes".
  • Todos los artículos deben tener un máximo de palabras clave y su traducción al inglés.
  • In the case of tables, figures or graphs, use high resolution.
  • It is recommended that the figures be in black, white and gray or in color in high definition.
  • Large boards should be avoided, it is recommended to divide them into several parts.
  • As far as possible, the data that give rise to figures should be presented at the end of the article in the corresponding tables, as an annex.
  • When it is cited and referenced, it is done as follows (Leff, 2007), in APA (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition format.
  • Bibliographic references must be governed by the Publications Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition.
  • I agree to provide complementary files (databases, questionnaires, etc.) when sending the manuscript to verify the authenticity of the results reflected in the manuscript.
  • In case my manuscript is published, I agree that the complementary files (databases, questionnaires, etc.) be published to facilitate the replication of my study by other researchers.
  • All illustrations, figures, and tables should be placed in the appropriate places in the text, rather than at the end.
  • If submitting to a peer reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in: Ensuring an Anonymous Review should be followed.

Author Guidelines

Welcome Mr. Author and Researcher of a manuscript to be sent to the Scientific Journal of the Postgraduate Studies System (SEP) of the University of San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC), we value and appreciate the fact of having chosen the SEP scientific journal to be eligible for publication.

Below is a series of information and guidelines that must be met in order for the manuscript to be published in the next volume of the SEP Scientific Journal, any questions or queries do not hesitate to write to us by email at revistacientifica@sep.usac.edu .gt

Manuscript Review Charges (Article Processing Charges or APCs)

All manuscripts sent to the journal are exempt from any charge for their revision or publication.

Scientific articles

This section is for scientific articles. All submitted documents go through a peer review process. Documents must comply with the submission guidelines described in the guide for authors.

Scientific Trials

This section is for scientific trials. All submitted documents go through a peer review process. Documents must comply with the submission guidelines described in the guide for authors.

Artículos de Revisión

This section is for literature review articles. All submitted documents go through a peer review process. Documents must comply with the submission guidelines described in the guide for authors.

Case Report

This section is for case report. All submitted documents go through a peer review process. Documents must comply with the submission guidelines described in the guide for authors.

Congress Summaries

This section is for conference abstracts. All documents sent will be evaluated by the editor of the journal, they will not undergo a peer evaluation. You must contact the journal editor to see the presentation format.

Documents of Interest

This section is to send important documents or of interest to the university community or society. All documents sent will be evaluated by the editor of the journal, they will not undergo a peer evaluation. You must contact the journal editor to see the presentation format.

Notice review

This section is for reviews (notice), it refers to a brief description of a certain thing or of an event, generally recent, it can be an article, event or even activity. All submitted reviews will be evaluated by the journal editor, they will not undergo a peer review. You must contact the journal editor to see the presentation format.

Tributes

This section is for the tributes made within the Postgraduate Studies System, whether generated by any of its members or academic units and General Coordinator, or received by any of its individual members. All tributes sent to this section will be evaluated by the editor of the magazine, they will not undergo a peer evaluation. You must contact the journal editor to see the presentation format.

Relevant SEP Information

This section is to present relevant information of the Postgraduate Studies System (SEP) of the University of San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC). All the information sent will be evaluated by the editor of the journal, it will not be subjected to a peer review. You must contact the journal editor to see the presentation format.

Privacy Statement

Los datos recolectados de los usuarios registrados y no registrados en esta revista están comprendidos dentro de los alcances del funcionamiento estándar de revistas arbitradas. Eso incluye la información necesaria para comunicarse en el proceso editorial. La información es usada para informar a los lectores acerca de la autorí­a y edición del contenido. Asimismo, permite recolectar datos agregados de las conductas de lectura así­ como también monitorear elementos geopolí­ticos y sociales de la comunicación académica.

El equipo editorial de esta revista usa estos datos como guí­a para la publicación y mejora de la revista.
